You are absolutely correct of course, a 15% discount is not the same as removing the VAT.  It is, as you say, a more generous discount.  If the offer was phrased slightly differently - e.g. &quot;we pay the VAT for you, that&#039;s the equivilent of a 15% discount&quot; - then as you have pointed out that would be inaccurate and could cause the company making the claim some problems!</description>

Taking 15% off the price is NOT equivalent to removing VAT...they are actually removing more than the added VAT! Basic GCSE level Maths!

A quick example : if the original price is £10000, and you add VAT (15%), the sale price is £11500. If you now reduce this price by 15% (10% is £1150, 5% is £575, 15% is £1725, the sale price is £9750...

They&#039;re being a bit more generous that they&#039;re advertising! I guess that&#039;s fine!</description>
